Rufus Sewell

I've admired this actor for a long time, can you guess why? He's gorgeous and he can also act. Reason: He's British. Now, American audiences are being introduced to him via the TV series Eleventh Hour. It was an originally a British series starring Jean-Luc Picard (can't remember his real name). Rufus Sewell is much better! He plays a rational but dreamy scientist who investigates crimes for the FBI. Yeah, right. Anyway, who cares!

Boris Karloff

Boris Karloff was born William Henry Pratt on November 23, 1887 in London England. His most famous role was that of the Frankenstein monster in the 1931 classic film Frankenstein. He played many horror and villainous roles in his career but in real life was a very charitable and caring man. He died on February 2, 1969 in Midhurst, England.

This still is from "The Body Snatcher" by Robert Louis Stevenson. Karloff played the malevolent cabman, John Gray.

From IMDB comments,
Karloff is chillingly perfect in the role of the sly coachman who augments his salary with a little grave robbing. A gentle man who is kind to crippled children, yet can murder without a second thought, Karloff paints the cunning portrait of a very human monster.

La Belle et la Bete

This movie has put me to sleep in the past, but not today. I finally appreciated its magic, romance, and enchantment. It is very beautiful, very simple.

I'm listening to this as an audiobook read by Brenda Dayne. It is a wonderful book by Edith Wharton. Beautifully written, sad, moving, emotional. Highly recommended. The movie is also excellent.

This audiobook is available as a podcast and on this website: http://brendadayne.blogspot.com/.

Why isn't Get Smart on DVD yet??

Emergency!

I don't remember if I already put Randy Mantooth aka Johnny Gage on here. It doesn't matter because I will probably have to include him more than once.

Clifton Webb

Clifton Webb often played sophisticated, urbane, sardonic, characters who jousted verbally and never lost a battle of wits. He was a queen, yet dignified. He played Mr. Belvedere in several hilarious movies and he had an unforgettable part in the noir classic, "Laura".

A film I won't be seeing

I didn't know a movie had been made of this book. It looks intriguing, but far too disturbing, so I won't see it. From dvdtalk.com: In the late 1890s, a series of strange deaths occurred in the small town of Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Murders were committed for no apparent reason, often by friends and loved ones. Countless infants fell victim to diphtheria, an acute bacterial infection. People were supposedly haunted by ghosts, possessed by spirits, and thrown into a profound state of depression, paranoia, and insanity. One theory is that it was so excruciatingly isolated, cold, and boring in rural Wisconsin that it drove people insane.

"I have a cunning plan"

This is my favorite series of Blackadder- he's the sarcastic butler to the Prince Regent, a total fool. Baldrick is great in this one.

Non-Issue

I'm Jewish and I don't especially give a rat's what Mel Gibson said while drunk. I love the entertainment value of the story, though! By the way, this mugshot is pretty handsome for a DUI...dayum.

Did you know?

A free program from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/, VLC media player plays DVDs and allows you to take snapshots as the DVD plays on your computer. There are other features of which I'm still ignorant. Another life-changing thing!
